How to Start a Meeting

How to Start a Meeting

  1. Set Day, Time and Start Date
  2. Type of Meeting – Speaker, Open Discussion, Steps, Literature etc
  3. Name the Meeting
  4. Register the meeting with CAFAA
    • Go to Central Service Committee Zoom meeting any Sunday at 5:30pm ET (first week) or 5:45pm ET (all other weeks) – ID 864 9601 6829 – password – calm
    • If you can’t attend, contact a CSC member to get CSC email list and send out group email to get meeting registered
    • Tell CSC your plans and vision for the meeting, any info that would be helpful for them to know, consider suggestions if any
    • If you’re emailing, ask for their feedback and confirmation by a certain date
  5. Start the meeting on Zoom
  6. Get the meeting on the website
    • Contact Thomas S., Secretary of CSC, (until we have a new Website Coordinator) with all the details about the meeting – Thomas S., VA 703-347-2462; tks202@icloud.com
  7. Get the word out
    • During the announcement section of meetings, announce your new meeting, the Zoom id and password. Good idea to announce at least a week in advance, on as many meetings as possible
    • Write a short blurb with info about the new meeting for the Announcements Bulletin Board on the website. Email this to the chair or secretary of the Central Service Committee and they’ll get it posted quickly for chairs to announce at meetings.
    • You can post it on the WhatsApp CAFAA Outreach group http://chat.whatsapp.com/GeNcqJwMc6v8rilmJbhFpo
    • Let the CSC know the meeting is live and the start date
    • Spread the word about the meeting via texts and outreach calls — consider asking members if they’d like to do service with you (secretary, speaker, booker, co-chair, etc.)
  8. Format
    • Contact the chair of a meeting with a format similar to your meeting and ask them to email it to you so you can edit it to suit your new meeting
    • For help with formats or to access a selection of formats, contact Justy, CA; 510-646-2939; justyrenson@gmail.com
